Voting is important
Seriously, Though
Voting is important because our elected officials are supposed to work for us. Our legislators make the laws that we have to follow every day and that impact our lives from the moment we turn off that pesky alarm clock and drag ourselves out of bed to get ready for school to the time we flop in front of the TV when we get home from practice. Other elected officials are charged with executing the laws that our legislators put in place and performing administrative duties related to state government. For example, our governor must develop a budget for the state each year. The point is, these elected officials have important jobs to do and the good news is, you can have a voice in who gets to do them…if you go out and vote when you turn 18. Below are some links to information on how to register, where your polling place is located, who your elected officials are, and how to contact them. If you’re heading off to college this fall, don’t forget to get to request an Absentee Ballot!
